First Queen Street Harmony Showcase to Feature Ferdinand the Bull, Avi Jacob, and HoneySmoke
This Thursday night, Awendaw Green is presenting the first installment of their new Queen Street Harmony Series. The listening room showcase will take place at the Footlight Players’ Theatre at 20 Queen Street, and will feature performances from Pittsburgh’s Ferdinand the Bull along with Charleston’s Avi Jacob and HoneySmoke. The June 14th show will be Pittsburgh-based folk/americana band Ferdinand the Bull’s second appearance in Charleston, the first being at Awendaw Green’s Barn Jam the night before. They just released the first single off their upcoming album Painting Over Pictures along with a video featuring visual artist Laura Rosner. Listen to that single titled “4:30am” below.
Avi Jacob is another artist with new music in tow for the Queen Street Harmony Series. Having recently released his new EP Surrender, Avi is calling Thursday night’s show his EP release celebration. Avi recorded Surrender up at Simone Felice‘s Barn in the Catskill Mountains (Simone produced and co-wrote The Lumineers’ platinum album Cleopatra), and Avi says that making the album was a therapeautic process for him, working out feelings of hope, hopelessness, love, and guilt.

HoneySmoke doesn’t have new music out right now, but their 2015 album Songs for the Sun and the Rain has been a Charleston favorite since it came out. You’ve probably heard a few tracks in rotation on 105.5 The Bridge and other local radio stations. That album is also streaming below.
