Animal Shred II: A Surfing-Inspired Art Exhibit

Calling all surfers, music lovers, and art advocates of Charleston: There’s a sweet event coming up on Friday, August 10th that you should have on your radar. “Animal Shred II” is a surfing-inspired art exhibit that seeks to represent the zoomorphic characteristics and soul that surfers display in their unique approach to a wave. The exhibit will feature original paintings from local surfer and artist Kate Barattini, as well as photography from local surfer and photographer Justin Morris of Follyhood.

“Animal Shred II” is a continuation of the 2015 “Animal Shred” exhibit that took place at the Charleston Music Hall. The second installment of the series will take place at the home of Hed Hi Media at 654 King Street. You may be familiar with Hed Hi Media if you saw our article a few months back about Drivin N Cryin’s involvement with a new Baja Race Documentary.

Music at “Animal Shred II” will be provided by Charleston’s very own See Water, and everyone’s favorite Pabst Blue Ribbon will be served up alongside smoked hot dogs and vegan carrot dogs. 10% of proceeds from the event will be donated to Y20 (Youth to Ocean) and Charleston Waterkeeper, two local nonprofits who are doing great work around the water. Any t-shirt or print purchased at “Animal Shred II” grants entry into a raffle for a chance to win an original Animal Shred painting or a canvas printed photograph.

“Animal Shred II” is free and will run from 7 to 11pm. Get out there!
