Tom Angst Releases Self-Titled Debut EP

After releasing their debut single near the end of July, Tom Angst has now unveiled their self-titled debut EP. The Tom Angst EP contains five heartfelt indie-pop songs that were recorded at Black Sneaker Soul Studio back in May. The band is one of many upstate South Carolina bands hailing from the newly-formed Pablo Generation collective, which includes other notable acts such as Daddy’s Beemer, Apricot Blush, and Beach Bug.

Tom Angst have been house show veterans since long before they ever made it into a studio to record their songs, and I think the following they gained from playing at popular upstate house venues like Pablo and The Concrete Castle has helped them gain the momentum we’ve seen behind them lately. Recently they played Future Chord Fest at The Spinning Jenny in Greer alongside bands like Junior Astronomers, Brother Oliver, and The Francis Vertigo. This EP is solid to the core, and will help the band to continue the growth of their fanbase.

The Tom Angst EP will serve as a piece of concrete evidence that this is a band worth taking seriously, and with the Pablo Generation support system in place they have a unique opportunity for growth, as do the rest of the bands on the label. Scene SC has also taken notice of The Pablo Generation and has been recording what they’re calling “Pablo Sessions”, with the debut session being a live version of Tom Angst song “I’m Probably Overthinking It”, which happens to be the fourth track on this EP.

These are all good things for the South Carolina music scene. It’s nice to see bands coming together to lift each other up, which seems to be a common denominator throughout the entire state. The general mindset that I’ve noticed from going to shows and keeping up with the scene on the internet is that the people involved help each other out, and root for the success of their peers. The debut EP from Tom Angst stands tall on its own, and is made ever stronger by the people cheering them on.
