Susto - Chillin' On The Beach With My Best Friend Jesus Christ (Music Video)

Susto is another awesome band coming out of Charleston right now, and their new music video gets the Jesus stamp of approval. The song is called "Chillin' On The Beach With My Best Friend Jesus Christ", and it pokes a bit of fun at Christianity with lyrics about drinking beer with Jesus, and scenes of singer Justin Osborne hitting people with a bible, and Johnny Delaware running around in a Jesus outfit, with everyone dancing and spilling all over themselves. Just imagine a keg party in an outdoor church, with Jesus and chill live music, and you've got yourself this video. Watch it now, play it while you drive to beach, play it in the convenience store parking lot, hell, even play it in church. I'm sure the priest wouldn't mind.

Now, this video is not meant to be offensive in any way. Justin Osborne sat down with Nerdist to discuss the inspiration behind the song and video, and to clear the air for anyone who may take this the wrong way:

"Growing up in deeply religious households and revering Jesus Christ as a personalized figure; we wanted to portray a real religious experience in a way that reflects our contemporary lifestyle. In no way is the song or video meant to be offensive, on the contrary we are trying to bridge the gap between believer and non-believer. We want to encourage a lighthearted approach to finding unity in a world of differences.”

I'd say they accomplished their goal. "Chillin' On The Beach With My Best Friend Jesus Christ" is definitely a lighthearted song, and the overall vibe is great. You don't have to be a Christian or an Atheist to enjoy this video, you can be whatever you like. Just kick back, crack a beer, and enjoy.

Also, don't miss your chance to see Susto at the Hearts & Plugs Summer Shindig at Royal American this Saturday. You'll get to see 8 different bands, drink a ton of beer, and hang out with awesome people all day for just $20. Buy your tickets at heartsandplugs.com.
